With new trees and a freshly painted gazebo, River Island Park is ready for a summer of rollicking activity, while local student Michael Rannacher is one step closer to earning the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.
The 17-year-old Cranston resident and junior at Beacon Charter High School for the Arts hosted a cleanup at the park last Saturday, April 21, that included painting the gazebo and planting trees along with general cleanup of the area’s green space. He was joined by fellow members and volunteers of Boy Scout Troop 31 and supported by several local businesses.
