When I was three years old, I moved from Medellin, Colombia, to Central Falls. With an eye on my future, my mother signed me up for Cub Scouts, a program offered by the Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I didn’t realize it then, but my experiences in Scouting helped me overcome the challenges one faces growing up in a single parent family in an inner city.
