NKFD presence inside Quonset now in works

Initial steps have been taken toward creating a Fire Department presence at Quonset Business Park, with the hopes that a ladder truck can be in operation in the park by the middle of next year.

In a Sept. 19 memo to Director of Public Works Phil Bergeron, Fire Chief Scott Kettelle said his department has been working with the Quonset Development Corp. to make “necessary improvements” to the department’s Fire Maintenance facility, formerly the Stanley Bostitch building, at 545 Callahan Road so it can be used temporarily as a fire station “until a suitable permanent location can be identified and funded.”
