“Mark Turco, who was recently appointed as the CEO and president of the Rhode Island Life Science Hub, wants to take a stab at the answer. ‘Our hope now is that life science becomes one of those hubs in the area that will replace the loss of jewelry and textiles over time,’ Turco said. Life sciences, which encompass biotechnology, biopharma and medical technologies, have been gaining momentum in Rhode Island. The industry has a 31% higher concentration in the state than the national average, according to the Rhode Island Commerce Corp.”
