Regarding the dual use of the auto import parking and storage area at Quonset, I propose we carry out a feasibility study for placing solar panels over the parking areas. I am not proposing a roof but a lightweight galvanized structure with a clearance of 8 feet. Support columns would be spaced as far apart as is economically feasible. The design would meet with the full input and approval of NORAD Inc.
The project could start with a couple of acres to finalize the concept. Perhaps the engineering departments at the University of Rhode Island could be involved in the design.
