Congressional and defense industry leaders gathered Monday at the Marriott Hotel to open the three-day Defense Innovation Days conference that brings together companies developing innovations with policymakers who help steer the nation’s defense strategy.
Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, was the keynote speaker.
“What you do is not just a job,” Reed told the representatives of the defense companies. “You are ensuring the safety and security of the young men and women who serve the U.S. in uniform. Our simple rule is, we never want to be caught in a fair fight.”
