Let us not blind ourselves to the fact that the proposed welcome center on the grounds of The Breakers will destroy much of the quality and beauty that represents a great era in our American history.
The primary function of the new building will probably be directed more to future events than education. The leaders of the Preservation Society of Newport County are motivated by greed and money, “the root of all evil.” They are showing little interest in preserving a part of our national heritage.
