Brandon Krupp Goes Toe to Toe with Bill O’Reilly

As chief of psychiatric services at Rhode Island’s state hospital, Dr. Brandon Krupp just didn’t agree with the politicians who wanted to use his facility to incarcerate a child molester who had completed his prison sentence.

“This prisoner may very well have been dangerous,” said Krupp, who had treated victims of sexual abuse and knew the terrible pain it caused. “But a hospital isn’t a jail, and doctors aren’t prison guards.”

In the end, it was a matter of principle – and Krupp resigned his post after 12 years, rather than admit the offender.

That’s when Bill O’Reilly, of Fox TV’s O’Reilly Factor called and invited Dr. Krupp to be a guest on his program.  Krupp called New Harbor to prepare for what he knew would be a tough interview.  He was determined not to let O’Reilly tag him with the label “soft on crime.”

“O’Reilly was a tough customer, but I was thoroughly prepared,” Krupp said.  “New Harbor’s training helped me to stay on message and stand my ground..”

When it was over, O’Reilly thanked him for coming on the show.  “You’re a man of principle, Doc,” he said.
